the quilt measures 46" square with out a border and the bonus mini quilt that can also be used for a pillow is about 9" square. You don't need to make this in a valentines theme a country color or baby colors or even my teen daughter wants one done in purples. I would start with the pillow to get yourself familiar with the process since it is smaller to work with.
